Kenneth Moorefield

His final service in Vietnam was not for the Army but for the State Department. Kenneth Moorefield was in Hanoi to open the US embassy and served there from 1995 to 1998. He says that the government officials who had been in combat were much easier to deal with due to their mutual respect as soldiers. (6:01)
Kenneth Moorefield, from the perspective of two combat tours followed by service in US embassies in the South and in the postwar North, says that he is still unsure about the value of the American engagement there. He is sure that the actions of the incoming administration in 1968 were deplorable, in light of facts that have emerged since then. (8:32)

After basic training in Fort Gordon, Ken Sager made sure that he got sent to Vietnam because he wanted to be a part of the war. He worked on loading the ships, where he got his first introduction to the war. (7:47)
After being assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division, the Tet Offensive was underway. They faced a formidable challenge in fighting the North Vietnamese there and had to think on their feet to outsmart them. (7:29)
