Patrick Malloy

He had a week's leave and Patrick Malloy set off with a buddy to visit Vienna. They slept in the car outside Munich and woke in a mist which cleared to reveal the gates of Dachau. (2:17)
Near the end of his tour in West Germany, Patrick Malloy was made the Troop Information Specialist, which meant he conducted classes in the Constitution, military law and tradition and the separation of the military from politics. This was made necessary by a general who crossed the line. (5:09)
He wasn't leaving a shooting war but short timers are the same everywhere. Patrick Malloy referred to himself as the number of days he had remaining. You became that number. Back home, he eventually landed at the Export-Import Bank of the United States, where he had a great career. (4:09)
Years after his service in West Germany, Patrick Malloy was walking down the street when a stranger walked up to him and spoke. This began a new life long tradition for the surprised veteran. (1:52)
Patrick Sauer

Patrick Sauer recalls his desire to serve the country after his brother spent time in Laos during the Vietnam War. (3:21)
Patrick Sauer remembers his training at Fort Knox and later his stationing in Germany during the era of the Berlin Wall. The presence of communism in the areas he was stationed helped to give him a will to keep fighting for American values. (7:48)
Patrick Sauer remembers being able to see Normandy on Memorial Day, realizing how special it was that it had been maintained all these years. (2:56)
Patrick Sauer recalls his time at the Army hospital in Nuremberg. Dealing with a hospital full of casualties was a challenge for him and his team. (5:19)
After his service in Germany, Patrick Sauer went on to pursue his Master's in Health Administration back in the States. Along the way, he learned a number of things, with some obstacles, that helped his health care service improve measurably. (6:00)
Patrick Sauer served as the Regional Clinical Director for the 18th Medical Command in South Korea and saw a number of reminders of why he was glad to be an American soldier. (4:53)
