Eason Bond tells the story of how his battalion, later nicknamed the "Lost Battalion," was surrounded by German troops for several days in October of 1944. They were finally rescued by the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, which was comprised of Japanese Americans, and was one of the most highly decorated units in military history. Unfortunately, the rescue came at a high price for the men of the 442nd. (2:21)
